I was inspired to make everyday chores more intentional after reading ‘Friendly at Home Fitness Manual’ by Susan Bingham. Susan was my Pilates instructor in Lehigh Valley, PA, and the person who introduced me to low-impact physical fitness 🙏
Here are instances where you can add some stretching to household work:
- Unloading the dishwasher is a great opportunity for deep knee bends. This is also better for your back. Just keep your feet directly under your knees.
- Putting the dishes away is the time to do some upper-body stretching. You can even get fancy and add some stretching to the side.
- Waiting for anything (coffee, toast) you can do single leg lifts or go on your tiptoes.
These are only a few examples. But you get the picture! Use your imagination and turn chores into a gentle exercise!
I’m still working on Samantha’s nose twitch—that special movement to take care of all the chores at once 😉
And let’s not forget the power of essential oils: adding a few drops of lemon essential oil with the detergent will give your dishes a sparkle and make your dishwasher smell wonderful. ➡ Yet another way to add some excitement!
Stay healthy, stay happy!
